Podcast: The A-B-Sieged of Mirrodin

bdm | January 28, 2011 | 3:38 pm

The A-B-Sieged of Mirrodin

A couple of days ago MIchael Flores and I sat down and the new Top8Magic.com offices and started talking about the cards in Mirrodin Besieged in anticipation of the coming Prerelease weekend. The podcast is largely traffic and jackhammer free but there is a section toward the end when we go and play in traffic. We wander through the at-the-time spoiled cards and talk about their impact on formats ranging from booster drafts to Standard and even a little Commander (although, to be fair,  that discussion included a lot of MIke saying “What is Commander?”)

Good luck to everyone playing in a Prerelease this weekend and choose your side wisely!

Sorry gents, equipment that’s a creature cannot equip things.

301.5c An Equipment that’s also a creature can’t equip a creature. An Equipment that loses the subtype “Equipment” can’t equip a creature. An Equipment can’t equip itself. An Equipment that equips an illegal or nonexistent permanent becomes unattached from that permanent but remains on the battlefield. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.)

Also, battlecry isn’t “for each”. It’s just +1/+0. The Hero of Bladehold soldier tokens won’t be 3s in the front, but 2s.

Can you tell Mike to stop pretending to know what he is talking about when it comes to vintage? He is WAAAAAAAY off base whenever he mentions the format. Blue Control Decks don’t even play Gifts Ungiven anymore.
