Podcast - Everything to Everyone!
michaelj | March 4, 2012 | 9:22 pmHere are the show notes I sent to Chris Otwell at MTGCast:
Mike gets back from Hawaii so Mike and BDM podcast… over Skype.
Literally.
They have been in different cities week after week and are finally both back in NYC… and decide to try Skype.
Topics include Linsanity, Jon Finkel in the Top 8, Pro Tour Dark Ascension in general, and envisioning disparate possible futures.
You know, everything.
So basically BDM and I were casting over Skype and arguing about why our last podcast didn’t go up and at some point in ye olde cast BDM is like “we could just send this to Chris Otwell and link to it” … So that’s what we did! (you can listen to the interchange in this cast) (casto would have been up on MTGCast anyway).
So… Here it is!
Top8Magic #320 - Everything to Everyone (on MTGCast)
LOVE
MIKE

I love that even over Skype in the background you can hear sirens. Great stuff love listening
I’m late listening to this one…. It’s been a while since I reviewed the details of the Kibler/Finkel match, but I think you are not giving Finkel’s line of play enough credit. If he did the things you were talking about (blocking a wolf, not flashing back Lingering Souls), he would have lost to Inferno Titan. The Titan would have come down and taken out three dorks, making Finkel’s next attack non-lethal. Finkel had no way to deal with the Titan, so on Kibler’s next turn, the Titan would have taken out another three dorks before blockers and basically locked Finkel out of any chance of winning. For Finkel, the choice was whether to play around triple Galvanic Blast or to play around Inferno Titan. Perhaps he should have read Kibler and put him on one or two Blasts, but it still seems correct to favor playing around a top-decked Titan over a top-decked third Blast. At least, that’s what I remember from when I saw the match — I might be misremembering the details.
BDM did seem a bit…subdued in this format. But still… nice cast guys.
You guys reminded me to catch up with Young Justice (which is awesome)
I always enjoy listening to Top 8 Magic, in fact sometimes I re-listen to several-minute segments at a time to get to the bottom of what is being discussed, either because I don’t know the context of it, or to sort through the ideas that are being put forth.
Thanks for casting, I’ve listened to every one, please do this more often.
